Class Activities

  1. Initiating unit 7. Ss write to develop the idea of "reading vs me". They look at the activity of reading and what it means to them individually.
  2. Ss form groups and discuss the different purposes of reading and find examples of genres that illustrate this point.
  3. As project/activity, ss interview (national tv) themselves about their reading habits.
  4. Class discussion about the nature of reading, its importance, its use and its reality in Colombia
  5. Discussion. Pairs. Fiction vs Non-fiction literature. Preferences. Reasons.
  6. Discussion. Groups. Comics: Trash or Treasure. Students design presentation out of their discussion. Select a member as speaker to represent them.
  7. Activity. Groups. Students use slips of paper with introductory phrases such as "Tell me wh…." leading to a question to be asked of any group member. The answer should take 30 seconds.
  8. Followup. Whole class. Discovery. Groups choose 4 sentences in above activity and write on board. Class works toward understanding Embedded Questions. Corrections are made at the end.
  9. Lab work. Class exercise use of reported speech.
